Click on Elementary School Zone and search for information using the online reference sources available such as Britannica Online Encyclopedia, Grolier Online Encyclopedia, Searchasaurus, Kids Search, Amazing Animals, and Lands and Peoples. In the Middle School Zone, resources include Britannica and Grolier (at a slightly higher reading level) and Student Research Center (which searches magazines, newspapers, books, and primary source documents). Browse the monthly list of interesting websites correlated with each month/season/holiday. Questions about plagiarism and copyright guidelines for students' projects are answered in easy to understand language.

Use this free online resource to create the citations for resources and materials used when researching. To begin, select the type of resource (website, book, newspaper, journal, database in NC WiseOwl, or click on All 59 Options for encyclopedia article, digital image, etc.). Then click on Manual Entry and type in the information asked for in the boxes. After entering the information, click Create Citation. Repeat these steps for all the resources used for the project/research. After entering all resources, then click on "Export or Print" and select the choice Print as Word doc. This will open a new window with a Word document containing all the citations which can be printed to include with your research project for the Bibliography or Works Cited section.
